Google's Antigravity enters the ring

Google launched Antigravity 2.0 at I/O this week — a full-stack AI coding platform with a desktop app, CLI, and SDK that goes directly at Cursor and Claude Code. The pitch is agent-first: you describe what to build, specialized subagents execute in parallel, and the desktop surface is a management layer, not a text editor. Powered by the new Gemini 3.5 Flash model (which was itself developed using Antigravity), it ships with an enterprise deployment path and a $100/mo AI Ultra plan.

The BW team is already kicking the tires — Achal pinged the channel Monday night recommending everyone try it via your BW Google accounts. Prateek hit a quota snag that turned out to be a region/age setting issue, now resolved. Early verdict from Achal: "3.5 Flash is very good."

Worth watching: Google is sunsetting Gemini CLI and Gemini Code Assist IDE extensions on June 18 for all plans, folding everything into Antigravity. The agy CLI alone might be worth a spin.

Take-Two's CEO doesn't think AI can make a hit

Strauss Zelnick gave a candid long-form interview and Siddhaarth flagged the end segment where he pushes back on the AI maximalism consensus. His core point: AI consists of "big data sets, lots of compute, and a large language model mushed together" — and datasets by their nature are backward-looking. It can accelerate asset production and workflow, he allows, but it can't manufacture the cultural instinct that makes something a hit. Notably, he also called out that big-tech AI-related layoffs were largely pretextual. A grounding perspective worth sitting with — especially as clients start asking us how much AI will change what creative work costs.

Eric Schmidt got booed at graduation for talking about AI

The former Google CEO was met with jeers at the University of Arizona when he told grads AI "will touch every profession, every classroom, every hospital." He recovered with "I can hear you. There is a fear." It's now apparently a pattern — similar reactions happened at UCF and Middle Tennessee State the same week. The cultural mood around AI optimism is shifting noticeably among people entering the workforce.

GitHub breached via a poisoned VS Code extension

Satish flagged this one: hacking group TeamPCP compromised GitHub internally after an employee installed a malicious version of the Nx Console VS Code extension (v18.95.0, published May 18). Roughly 3,800 internal repositories were exfiltrated. GitHub says no customer data was accessed, but TeamPCP is asking $50K for the stolen repos and threatening to leak if no buyer materializes. Full writeup on BleepingComputer. The practical reminder: vet extension versions before updating, especially in shared dev environments.
